definition: visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data. (from google)

tag cloud (from wikipedia):  visual representation for text data, typically used to depict keyword metadata (tags) on websites, or to visualize free form text….This format is useful for quickly perceiving the most prominent terms and for locating a term alphabetically to determine its relative prominence. When used as website navigation aids, the terms are hyperlinked to items associated with the tag.
early example: microsurfs by douglas coupland, “subconscious files” circa 1995.

I looked at the google images result for the term “definition of infographics” and found an image of an “infographic on infographics” from this site: http://designerlibrarian.wordpress.com/2013/04/07/infographics-the-intersection-between-information-literacy-and-visual-literacy/
but is has no sources! sad face.

also related to infographics is “data visualization”
